“A beautiful spot to stroll around.”

The original plan was to build a traditional four-storey hotel on a car park on the west point of Goeree-Overflakkee island, on the edge of Lake Grevelingen. However, we felt that a ‘tall building’ on this spot was not consistent with the surrounding landscape and the lake’s expanse.
Our proposal was to bring back the historical dune landscape that had disappeared with the construction of the Delta Works project. The result is an area where hotel guests, visitors and islanders can swim, walk and generally feel at home. A place where there are no barriers and where typical dune plants have returned. Hotel villas and suites have been built along the two new bays in low density and using natural material and colours so that they fit in with the reclaimed dune landscape.
